Karate styles
Within Karate there are various styles, which arise from separation of some methodology or specialization when a school focuses on a sector that develops more.
Over time, teachers have contributed their knowledge, even creating their own styles within Karate. Here are some of the main ones:
Goju Ryu


Being its founder master Chojun Miyagi, it is characterized by its high positions, the conjunction between strength (GO) and softness (JU), this can be reflected in the Kata Heisugata where there is a continuous tension to work breathing and physical resistance .
Kenyu Ryu
Founded by master Ryusho Tomoyori. It is derived from the teachings of the Shito Ryu and Goju Ryu styles. It is based on techniques applied as a sequence and not with Kime, concentrating the Ki in the last movement.

Kyokushin Kay

Founded by master Masutatsu Oyama. It is characterized by full contact combat. The positions are a little high to facilitate movement. The Hikite (Arm collected) stands at chest level.
Shito Ryu
Being its founder master Kenwa Mabuni. It is characterized by positions that are neither too high nor too low. Attacks and defenses are usually short and fast, and kicking techniques are generally at Gedan and Shudan levels.


Shorin Ryu

Being its precursor the master Sokon Matsumura and systematized by his student Anko Itosu. It is characterized by natural movements and positions, blocking at angles and penetration into the opponent's space.
Shotokan
Founded by master Gichin Funakoshi. It is characterized by its low positions, the power and fluidity of its techniques. From straight punches with great penetration and pronounced hip movements.


Uechi Ryu


This style was transmitted by master Kanbun Uechi from China. It is a mixture of fighting techniques from the Pangay (China) and the natives of Okinawa (Japan). It is characterized by the work of hardening and techniques that emulate animals.
Wado Ryu
Founded by master Hironori Otsuka. From high positions to allow fast movements, these being adapted from Jiu Jitsu. Delve into the study of real combat.
