What is Kata?
Those of us who practice Karate understand Kata as a set of forms and / or imaginary combat. For me it is the purest form of the essence of Karate as self defense, with all the set of techniques that these entail. This, along with the Kihon and the Kumite are pillars in Karate Do.

The ancient masters used the Kata to record the lessons learned from different fighting styles, that is, a set of key techniques of a fighting style.

When the teacher Gichin Funakoshi began to enter Karate, he practiced only one Kata for months until one of his teachers, Azato, considered that he had learned it.
We can say that the Kata serve to condition and strengthen those who practice it, to improve their technique, strength, speed, breathing, concentration, etc.
